Kingstree First Baptist Church is a cornerstone institution of our community with traditional Southern Baptist Church roots developing more into a blended church progressively positioning itself as a church of choice to find Jesus.
Our church’s main campus is located three (3) blocks from the historic center of Kingstree, the county seat of Williamsburg County. Williamsburg County has approximately 36,000 citizens, and the town of Kingstree has approximately 3,400 citizens. Kingstree presents the ideal location as we are 70 miles inland from Charleston, 60 miles inland from the Atlantic beaches, 85 miles east of our state’s capital, Columbia, and 250 miles from South Carolina’s mountains. The Congregation was organized in 1858 with a sanctuary built in the early 1900’s, and a three-story education building added in 1956. Later in 1970 we added a two-story educational building, which currently serves as our primary Sunday school space. In 1988 we built our present sanctuary, adjacent to the two-story building. In 2013, we demolished the “old sanctuary” and three-story building. We have just recently completed construction of a Family Life Center ($2.1 million+ project) and celebrated its dedication to the Lord in January of 2015. Until our latest building project, Kingstree First Baptist was debt free. Our congregation has given strongly to this new cause, and we anticipate a mortgage note of approximately $1.2 million at the time of construction completion. In addition to our “main campus,” our church properties include an International Baptist Missions church in Kingstree, a river “hut” cabin on Black River, and a nicely renovated 4 bedroom/3 bath Parsonage. In early 2017, we were richly blessed with the gift of the property, house, and storage building on Brooks St adjacent to our existing campus. This connecting property opens doors for further ministry in our community and we look forward to seeing how God will use it!
In July 2016, the Lord led Pastor Ian Geimer to Kingstree to become the new shepherd for our congregation. Pastor Geimer, his wife, Carrie, and children, Nora and Landon, are truly answers to many prayers!
